Austin, Texas Compassion focused somatic therapy for stressed, tired, anxious humans

About me

Holistic Therapy

My approach

Hi! My name is Sally Bennett! I’m a licensed Clinical Social worker and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner. I consider myself a holistic therapist, meaning I take a whole person approach. I believe that in order to be truly complete, it’s important to pay attention to the mind, body and spirit. A holistic perspective blends elements of psychology with other philosophies of healing (such as meditation, nutrition, exercise, and other mind/body practices.)

A little bit about me: I started working in the mental health field in 2000. I began working with children, but soon I found myself drawn more to the parents than the kids. (No offense to the kiddos!) Most of the parents, obviously had their "stress cups" full--overflowing actually. It was then that I realized how much I love to see people reclaim their power and breakthrough the barriers that life has put along their path. Anxiety, Shame and self-criticism are some big ways that we humans stay stuck, and I get super excited when I can help people get released from those painful mind-habits.

I'm definitely a lover of knowledge and I do my best to to keep honing my skills so I can help people manage the stresses of life that come their way. I've been trained in a number of evidence based treatments, including: cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), compassion focused therapy (CFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Mindfulness based approaches, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping), SoulCollage™ Facilitation, and my favorite of all, and what I have personally been transformed by the most: Somatic Experiencing ™(SE).
